Summary: Some things should stay rare, according to Jack. A triple drabble.
‘Don't sulk, Jack,’ Gwen chastised, and giving him a nudge as they stood there, watching a very large truck rolling into the Torchwood underground loading bay, revealing one of the many hidden entrances to the hub to people Jack would rather didn’t have a clue that Torchwood even operated out of Cardiff, let alone know exactly how to get in the back door. ‘It's very unattractive in a man your age.’
‘And what age is that?’ he asked, being churlish simply because he could.
‘This is a rare opportunity for us to work with UNIT as colleagues rather than adversaries.’
Jack pouted and kept his mouth shut. It wasn’t exactly working together as far as he was concerned. They had something UNIT wanted, and UNIT would do almost anything to borrow Torchwood resources. Jack still couldn't remember why he’d agreed to it in the first place. It wasn’t as if he owed them any favours, discounting the fact that he’d destroyed one of their most expensive bathyspheres last year. As if they wouldn't have broken it anyway.
‘Just this once,’ Jack finally said, making it clear that he was already unhappy about the current arrangement and had no intention of letting anyone talk him into it again in future.
‘Are we all set?’ Ianto asked, sidling up beside the pair of them, looking pleased at how everything was going so far.
‘I suppose,’ Jack mumbled, bad mood turning sulking once more.
‘Okay,’ Ianto said, reaching down for the handle of his wheeled suitcase. ‘Well, don’t do anything I wouldn't do and do you dare touch that coffee machine while I'm gone. I’ve already given Gwen the loyalty cards for the cafe down the road.’ Ianto moved to join the truck, hopping into the cabin as it drove away.
Jack scowled.
