Summary: Ianto though he was just safely storing a depleted weapon. A double drabble.
Ianto stared down at the device in his arms, looking at it dumbfounded. It was only Jack’s hand on his shoulder that broke him from his distracted state. ‘You okay?’
Ianto checked himself over, though couldn’t be sure why. He wasn’t in any pain, but it didn’t hurt to be certain that he wasn’t in shock. ‘I’m fine,’ he finally replied, before casting his look across the road. ‘It was an accident,’ he mumbled, still unsure what exactly had happened. All he knew was that a few moments ago there’d been a mob of aliens and now there was just a pinkish smear on the bitumen where they’d been stood. ‘I don’t even remember activating the plasma cannon.’
Jack’s hand on his shoulder squeezed it. ‘You didn’t. It shouldn’t have had enough charge left to fire, but there was something in that van of theirs that gave it enough juice to set it off. And a good thing it did,’ he added. ‘Tosh checked their weaponry and if you hadn’t wiped them out when you did, we'd have been a crater sized hole of obliterated body parts.’
‘Oh. So, I didn’t murder them on purpose?’
‘Nope. You saved our bacon.’
