Summary: Ianto has to employ all manner of deception to manipulate Jack. A double drabble.
Ianto looked across at Jack’s pouty expression. ‘Oh, come on. You can't still be sulking after all this time,’ he said, trying to bait Jack out of his funk. ‘Even you have to admit that this is nice.’
It was more than nice, Ianto thought, taking in the view of the infinity pool from the luxurious hotel lobby. It ought to be bloody nice considering how much it had cost. He wasn’t going to spend all this money and have Jack mope his way through the next ten days.
‘It’s not about being nice,’ Jack replied. ‘It’s that you lied to me about it.’
Ianto rolled his eyes. Of course he’d lied. He’d been dropping suggestions about a holiday for the better part of a year and Jack always sidestepped the topic, avoiding ever having to debate things like location and timing. Jack Harkness, it seemed, for all his laissez faire attitude towards life, didn't do vacations. ‘You’d rather be on the trail of a Caribbean alien smuggler?’
‘It’s what we do.’
‘Yes. 365 days of the year. Every year. Sometimes you need a break.’
Jack heaved a sigh. ‘Fine. It is pretty nice here.’
‘I’m so glad you agree.’
