Summary: Owen and Ianto have a slight problem on their hands. A double drabble.
Now that they were finally alone, having been sufficiently annoying enough to get kicked off the guided tour, Owen thought they’d finally start getting to the bottom of their mystery. The sooner they solved the mystery, the sooner they could get out of this godforsaken patch of nowhere.
Ianto, who’d been all enthusiastic about coming out here and not having the rest of the team taking charge, was trailing a few steps behind as they explored the pitch black tunnels by torchlight. Owen paused and waited for Ianto to catch up. ‘What’s with you? Thought you’d be out front leading the pursuit.’
Ianto waited for a beat before answering. ‘I don’t like mines,’ he finally said.
Brilliant, Owen thought. And he couldn't have mentioned this before they’d gone a few hundred feet below the surface, wandering around in the dark? ‘You’re Welsh,’ Owen replied. ‘Your lot are supposed to love this.’ A whole bloody national identity had been built up around the famous coal hills of Wales.
‘Well I don’t.’
Owen rolled his eyes in the dark. ‘So, not all an act when you played freak-out in front of the guide?’
‘Mostly acting,’ Ianto replied. ‘Just don’t like being underground.’
