Summary: Ianto is suspicious of Jack's intentions. A double drabble.
Ianto wasn't really watching the television. It was a dull background noise filling in the gaps between staring off into space. He'd been doing that a lot lately, unable to figure out what he was supposed to do with himself. He'd never been good at being idle. He liked keeping busy, but a month of being suspended from his job, and from the daily exhausting grind of keeping Lisa alive had brought about a catatonic state of being unable to do anything.
When there was a knock on his door he almost didn't notice it. Only when it knocked a second time did he rise from the sofa, frowning at who might be there.
He felt surprised to see Jack on the other side of the door. Maybe he was being officially fired.
'How are you?'
Ianto swallowed hard. 'Depends why you're here, I suppose.'
Jack shrugged, looking relaxed about the question. 'I just came to see how you're doing.'
'Really?' Ianto assumed he'd been forgotten. After what he'd done he could imagine the team wishing he'd never existed. He wished it for himself sometimes.
'It's my job,' Jack said, reaching out to touch Ianto's shoulder. 'And because I care.'
