Summary: Inter-agency conferences are proving to be a waste of time. A double drabble.
Tosh needed to learn to read the room better, she decided, wishing she’d never asked Jack how the UNIT conference had been. His icy cold glare had frozen her in place, like a deer in the headlights before he stormed towards his office, slamming the door and causing everything to rattle in its wake.
She arched an eyebrow at Suzie who had followed silently in behind him. ‘Don’t ask,’ she said, dumping her backpack next to Tosh’s desk and slumping into Owen’s unoccupied chair.
‘What happened?’ Tosh asked, ignoring the directive. Suzie would of course kiss and tell.
‘Pretty much exactly nothing,’ Suzie replied. ‘You get that many big egos in a room together and it's all about who has the best technology and who has the most people and who can use the threat of the extinction of the human race to further their argument best.’ Suzie groaned. ‘Men. It’s always about size.’
Tosh cringed. She’d openly heard Jack complain about their so-called allies but she’d always imagined Jack staying cool under pressure, putting them in their place without resorting to raised voices and ultimatums. ‘Not Jack, though.’
Suzie gave a mirthless laugh. ‘Especially Jack. He was the worst.’
