torchwood100Summary: Jack's undercover work needs some work. A triple drabble.
Ianto was not only surprised, but completely aghast at the sight of Jack, striding into menswear. He'd seen Jack have bad days, but something told him that despite the smile and the outward charm, even Jack would agree that perhaps today wasn't going to plan.
‘What are you wearing? Or should I say what were you wearing?’ Jack looked like he'd crawled out of a dustbin, then gotten into a fight with three weevils, and finished off the job by setting himself on fire.
‘I was going incognito. Trying to blend in with the typical clientele of G. R. Owen.’
Ianto wanted to tell him he was way off the mark but sadly, there was an element of truth to it. He'd been here over a week now and one thing had become very clear to him. G. R. Owen was serving a dying breed of customer. Literally dying. The only person under thirty he'd seen was that silly girl Lily that worked with Gwen on the cosmetics counter.
He was beginning to feel a bit out of place himself, at least thirty years too young to be seen dead in here, let alone thinking he knew what someone from that era might consider fashionable. Still, he was doing his best, and still none the wiser why Jack had sent them here in the first place. If there was anything alien, it was doing a good job of masquerading as unsaleable tat.
‘Perhaps we should try again,’ Ianto said, offering to find Jack clothes that wouldn't make him look like a grandfather, yet somehow might make him less conspicuous in a sea of grandfatherly looking shoppers. Then again, there'd have to be some shoppers. As the only other person in menswear, Jack was going to stick out no matter what.
