Summary: Jack is troubled by Tosh's behaviour. A double drabble.
Jack had learned the hard way, on multiple occasions, that he should be wary of anyone on his team acting peculiar or out of sorts. It was almost always only explained by the influence of alien substances or technology, or worse, by terrible secrets that they didn’t want Jack finding out about.
Tosh was inherently fascinated by alien technology, but Jack had to admit that her constant questions and curiosity about his research on the alien “stapler” was starting to bother him. He had his reasons for keeping things under wraps, already suspicious of its purpose. He’d never seen one before, but he knew of the kinds of technology that could disaggregate living forms at the cellular level, absorb them into a cache and then reconstitute them at the requisite time. It wasn’t for travel. This was how you dealt with undesirables, and what Jack wanted to know was whether this one still contained them, or if they were somewhere out there, repeating the kind of behaviour that had gotten them locked up in the first place.
When Tosh acted coy about her interest in it, that’s when the red flags started going up. What, or who, did she know?
