Summary: Ianto's gut is telling him nothing good can come of this partnership. A double drabble.
Ianto Jones didn’t like to make snap judgements about people, but he could already tell that he didn’t like John Hart. It had absolutely nothing to do with being some kind of ex-partner of Jack’s – either in the line of duty, or the other kind of partnership that didn’t bear dredging up mental images – but everything to do with the way the man spoke and carried himself. Arrogant, entitled and just a bit too laissez faire for his liking.
He could be breaking the habit of a lifetime and doing the right thing, were Jack’s exact words, but Ianto didn’t think so. He’d seen the kinds of people that did the right things for the wrong reasons and the wrong things for the right reasons. He’d been one of them himself, so he knew the type. John Hart was not suddenly cured of violent compulsive urges, or he wouldn’t have killed that man at the car park, for no particularly good reason that Ianto could discern. Not to mention the small arsenal of weapons he’d been carrying.
There was nothing right about this situation, but with the risk of explosive devices littered around the city, what choice did they have?
