Summary: Jack puts up with a lot for the sake of love.
Jack beamed as he saw his lover quietly enter the sacred space of Jack's office – which at this hour of the morning was as quiet as it was ever going to get, just the two of them until the rest of the team arrived – which wouldn't be for at least another hour, leaving open endless possibilities for them, which didn't necessarily include progressing a volume of work.
Jack didn't even wait for the mug to kiss the surface of his desk, reaching to take it directly from Ianto's beautiful hands, letting them brush together as he did, which was entirely the point of the exercise, making the most of small intimacies when their minds should have been fixed on other matters.
He was still beaming as he raised the mug to his lips, but knew the moment that the brew hit his tongue that the beans had been burned – just slightly, not enough to smell, but enough to taste – and he kept on beaming at Ianto as he drank, knowing that anything less would upset Ianto, thinking that he'd failed this morning to bring perfection to their exchange, because that was the price of love; taking the good with the bad and being immensely grateful for both.
