torchwood100Summary: Ianto is really worried that they're about to do the wrong thing. A double drabble.
They shouldn't be doing this, Ianto thought, wondering if it was too late to stop Owen. Jack had always told them – rule number one – don’t mess with the rift. Not ever. Not even with the blueprints. Not even with Tosh’s equations that she’d very clearly and very cleverly left hidden for them to find, passing through sixty years of history to reach them, obviously with Jack’s blessing.
Was that enough? Was that Jack telling them that it was okay to use the equations to open the rift to bring them back? It felt like a last gasp attempt to do something they shouldn’t be. None of them really knew how the rift worked, which was why even Jack never touched it, and he had way more knowledge about these things than the rest of them.
Perhaps if they had all of Tosh’s equations it might have been okay, but someone had scratched out the last few symbols and numbers. It was incomplete, and that felt dangerous. Without that missing formula, who knew what might happen when they tried to open it.
They had to stop. As desperately as Ianto wanted Jack and Tosh back, opening the rift was a mistake.
