Summary: Jack hopes that after everything, there's still something left to salvage. A double drabble.
Jack stormed towards the SUV, simply assuming that Ianto would be right on his heels, tagging along after him like a desperate puppy. He was miffed to find that he’d made it back to the SUV alone, no Ianto in sight. He’d give Ianto the requisite five minutes, as promised, and then he’d have to decide whether he was going to make good on his promise to come after him if he ran.
Jack got in the car and sat there, running a hand through his hair. What a mess, he thought. This investigation had been a mess since the moment he’d stepped foot inside that pub. Moreover, he realised that Ianto was a mess. He couldn’t tell anymore that Jack was meant to be on his side. At least he had come back for Jack and rescued him from that slave world, he supposed. He didn’t have to, and to be fair, perhaps Jack did deserve it for what he’d done.
He wanted – nay, hoped – Ianto would come back with him. If there was anything left of their friendship and working relationship to salvage, Jack felt he owed it to Ianto to start making up for all the hurt.
