Summary: Jack has some big new for Ianto when he gets home. A double drabble.
Jack was waiting at the apartment door when Ianto entered it. Ianto knew that body language all too well, that slightly too excited to tell him something, hopping from foot to foot.
‘You’re like a puppy dog waiting for its master to come home,’ he remarked, removing his coat and hanging it on a hook by the door. He had to admit it was kind of nice having Jack waiting there for him when he got home.
‘I’ve got news,’ Jack said.
Ianto resisted the urge to roll his eyes. ‘So I’ve already heard,’ he replied. Kate Lethbridge-Stewart had already worded him up. ‘Big meeting with the head of UNIT. I hope you’re not after my job.’
Jack didn’t let Ianto’s foreknowledge sour the moment. ‘Oh, you know me, I just thought I might try building a few bridges between Torchwood and UNIT.’
‘More like mending fences,’ Ianto replied. ‘That you kicked down in the first place.’
‘Hey, nobody is perfect. And UNIT isn't the same animal it used to be.’
‘You mean since I started working there?’
‘Well, they were bound to have gotten something right finally. And maybe it’ll mean we get to work together again?’
‘We’ll see.’
