Summary: Ianto doesn't have time for words. A double drabble.
As the lift ascended deep within Thames House, Ianto could sense that there was something off with Jack. He seemed unnaturally rattled by what was happening and the speed at which it was happening. It was hard not to blame him. In all the years and everything they’d seen, nothing had ever come close to this scale of world-ending.
Confident, always assured Jack Harkness, wasn't there in the lift with Ianto when he needed him most. Perhaps it was the unspoken worry of what might happen to his family being held hostage. Would Frobisher really harm them just to get back at Jack for doing his job?
There wasn't time to consider what Jack's revelation of family meant for them and their relationship. That came later. They wouldn't be in the lift long enough for Ianto to say anything. Instead he moved his hand slightly, letting his knuckles brush against Jack's. Things would be okay. Whatever came next, they’d face it together because that was what they did.
Jack's hand moved, momentarily, giving it the briefest of squeezes. Yes, there'd be time for all of that later. For now, Jack knew he had Ianto there when he needed him most.
