Summary: Not all aliens are considered higher forms of life.
‘This must be the stupidest creature that has ever existed,’ Owen remarked, watching as the thing Jack called a Hoix sat perched on the edge of the gutter, hugging the cigarette bin to its body. It pulled out the used butts and shoveled them into its mouth, reminding Owen of people who sat in cinemas, clutching their box of popcorn and stuffing pieces in their mouths without even breaking eye contact.
‘As far as intelligence goes, well, they’re not the brightest crayons in the box,’ Jack admitted. ‘On the plus side, they’re easy to keep. They’ll eat pretty much anything.’
