Summary: Torchwood are very clearly no longer in charge of the situation. A double drabble.
The scene laid out before them was moderately chaotic, but less so than it had been an hour ago.
‘I think it’s fair to say we’re no longer in control of the situation,’ Ianto remarked, watching as a tank squeezed past four armoured vehicles parked on each side of the road, not so much as scratching the paintwork on a single one of them. Overhead the drone of helicopters made it hard to hear anything else. ‘A squadron of choppers, a dozen tanks, three dozen armoured vehicles and more armed soldiers than a hundred quid says you could get through in an entire bank holiday weekend,’ he added, waiting to see if Jack would rise to his baiting. UNIT’s response had well and truly outdone itself.
‘Hmph,’ was the only reply Jack gave. He hated UNIT muscling in on their turf, even when things had very much not been going Torchwood’s way.
‘Do you think perhaps we might manage to sneak away unnoticed?’ Just for once it’d be nice to leave someone else to clean up the mess. Give every soldier a bin bag and they’d be done in no time.
‘Not sure they even noticed we were here first.’
