Summary: Jack has been left disoriented and without a few key senses. A double drabble.
‘Ianto!’ Jack yelled, scrabbling around on hands and knees, still feeling disoriented by the shockwave. ‘Gwen!’ He could feel the rocks and grit under his palms, digging painfully into his knees as he crawled, blinking and wishing the ringing in his ears would go away so he could better hear anyone responding to his calls. ‘Ianto!’ He called out again.
‘Here, I've got you,’ came the familiar Welsh tones as Ianto's hands found his shoulders, one looping under his armpit to help him to his feet. ‘You okay?’
Jack responded, though a second later he couldn’t have recalled what he’d said. He remembered a flash of something and then there was nothing after that until he'd found himself on the ground. ‘Can’t see,’ he said, still blinking through tears and a bright red haze that refused to clear from his vision.
‘Yeah, a bit bright,’ Ianto replied, wrapping an arm around his waist to guide him. ‘Fortunately we weren’t looking at it when it exploded. I don't think it meant to kill so much as it intended to blind anyone close enough.’
Ah, well that explained it. Clearly it hadn’t been the kind of incendiary he’d told them it was.
