torchwood100Summary: Ianto thought he had the easier of their two jobs. A triple drabble.
Ianto walked into the pub, not expecting to get much out of the people inside. He expected most of them would be happy just to drink their pints and be glad that the bus driver hadn’t ended up killing them all. If it were him in a bus crash, he knew he’d be grateful for the drink and a sit down whilst someone took his witness statement. Still, it was invariably more appealing than dealing with the police outside, which Gwen was doing.
‘Hello,’ he said, giving a friendly little wave to a placid looking woman. ‘How are you doing? You okay? Can you tell me what happened to the bus driver?’
She turned her head and gave him a blank look over her lemon, lime and bitters. ‘Eh?’
‘The bus crash? I’m just gathering statements from all the passengers so we can understand what happened.’
‘Oh, well, it was funny see, one moment we were driving along fine and then…’
‘Then?’ Ianto pressed her, but instead of finishing her sentence she started singing, some kind of sleepy lullaby thing before dropping off on the table. ‘Well, that’s helpful.’
He turned around at raised voices behind him, only to find it was just one woman screaming at an imaginary person. Then someone else started yelling at another patron, and before he knew what was what, it was all kicking off inside the pub. There were fists being thrown, bottles and glasses smashed over heads, chucked across the room or simply broken on the bar and fashioned into weapons before they joined the fray.
‘Bloody hell,’ Ianto muttered, ducking before a pimply teenager stabbed him in the neck with the stem of a wine glass. He kicked the lad’s knee out from under him, sending him sprawling. ‘What is going on?’
