Summary: Jack already knows everything he needs to and it doesn't sit well. A double drabble.
Jack wanted to tell Gwen no. No, she couldn't take these cannibals and question them for their motives. Nobody needed to understand why they'd done what they did, but his better nature got the best of him, granting her request. They had plenty of time before law enforcement would arrive to take them away to face justice, though Jack doubted there was any justice fair enough or harsh enough.
He leaned against the corner of the room, putting as much distance between him and them as possible. He had no questions or burning uncertainties. Only Gwen wouldn't be satisfied until she had it from their own mouths.
Hearing the words and the complete absence of empathy left a bad taste in Jack's mouth. These animals were so far removed from humanity that they didn't deserve due process. He'd had the chance to kill them and hadn't.
When the cannibal made Gwen lean in close, Jack moved towards them instinctively. Hearing that the murders made them happy made something snap inside him, grabbing the man by his collar and throwing him backwards. He'd been right all along. These people didn't deserve life, but it was too late now to kill them.
