Summary: Owen thinks he has the shitty end of the stick again. A triple drabble.
'I hate this,' Owen complained.
Ianto cracked a bleary eye open in the darkness, thoroughly annoyed at having been woken just moments after he'd finally fallen asleep. If Owen had been just a few inches closer Ianto would have kicked him. Kicking him would have been satisfying, or might have done if his ankle would have let him.
He was still ruing the moment he'd stepped on a well concealed animal trap that some idiot had left behind. The ankle wasn't broken, but he could scarcely put weight on it. But for that, they might have made it back to the SUV before dark and not had to make do with sleeping rough.
'Go to sleep,' Ianto mumbled, tucking his chin deeper into the collar of his coat.
'Can't. It's too bloody hard and uncomfortable. And cold. Not all snug like you.'
Ianto might have rolled his eyes. Jack was spooned up against his body, one arm and half a coat wrapped around him, with Jack snoring quietly against the back of his neck. 'Trust me, the ground is no less hard and uncomfortable here.' And it was true, which is why he'd been awake for nearly two hours, only in just dropping off moments before. His ankle throbbed and had swollen up, pressing painfully against his shoe, distracting him from falling into the relaxed state needed for sleep.
Unlike Jack, he still wasn't accustomed to sleeping in anything less than his own bed. Even sleeping in the SUV would have been better, but if they'd made it back, they wouldn't have had to. Jack would have driven them all home.
'Still be warmer than here,' Owen complained, noisily thrashing about.
Ianto huffed. 'Fine. You snuggle with Jack and I'll sleep over there. Then maybe we'll both get some sleep.'
