Summary: Jack is determined to help Ianto get through things. A double drabble.
Jack was hardly surprised to find Ianto still working at eight thirty, hours after everyone else had gone home. He still wasn't sure whether Ianto was consciously avoiding going home, or whether he hadn't even noticed the hours slipping by.
Either way, it couldn't be good for him. Jack knew he was still struggling to come to terms with losing his girlfriend, but he put on a brave face and that" keep calm and carry on" attitude that the Brits were so fond of.
Jack had made a vow to see if there was anything more he could do to help him get through this. He'd thought about taking Ianto out for dinner. Why not tonight?
‘Ianto, wanna go grab a bite?’
‘Sorry?’
‘A bite,’ Jack repeated. ‘Something to eat. Dinner. It's late, but it's not that late, and neither of us have eaten since lunch.’
‘Unless you count the four hobnobs you scoffed with your afternoon coffee.’
‘Never mind that,’ Jack said, unwilling to be fobbed off. ‘I'm starving and you look like you're in need of meat and at least three veg.’
‘I am a little hungry,’ Ianto confessed.
‘Then it's settled,’ Jack told him. ‘Dinner. My treat.’
