Summary: Ianto has an important shopping trip planned. A triple drabble.
‘I'm just popping off to the office supply store,’ Ianto chirped from Jack's office doorway.
‘Again?’ Jack replied. ‘Didn't we just stock up on office supplies?’
‘Have you seen the rate at which we go through office supplies?’ Ianto replied. ‘This is more of a special trip.’
‘I didn't realise office supplies were so special,’ Jack said.
‘That all depends on who's using them. Some people happen to like office supplies.’
‘I wonder who we might be talking about?’ Jack said, grinning.
‘Says the man who stole the post-its and coloured paper clips from my desk drawer,’ he replied, reminding Jack that he too had a mild interest in fancy stationery, even if he hated paperwork itself.
‘And what exactly is it that you're heading out to buy today?’
‘Well it's early November and we need to start thinking about Christmas. More specifically, stocking up on coloured paper, and lots of it.’
‘Coloured paper?’
‘For the paper-chains,’ Ianto replied. ‘You’ve got a hub full of Fluffs who love Christmas almost as much as you do. They're going to want to bedeck the hub even more than last year and that's going to mean a whole lot more paper and a whole lot more glue.’
‘Ah,’ Jack said, finally understanding. He wasn't going to deny anyone the opportunity to decorate when it came to Christmas. ‘Can I make paper chains too?’
‘Don't you have more important things to be doing?’ Ianto replied. ‘You know, like saving the world from alien threats and what have you?’
‘Sure, but we don't have to save the world from alien threats all the time. You must surely be able to pencil sometime in my calendar for paper-chain making.’
‘I have permission to pencil things in your calendar?’
‘Use that power wisely, Ianto Jones,’ Jack warned.
