Summary: Torchwood are about to help Andy get noticed. A triple drabble.
‘Bloody Torchwood,’ Andy muttered loudly making sure they heard. ‘Should have known you lot would be here,’ he added pulling his peaked cap off his head and tucking it under his arm. ‘What is it this time? The blobby thing from Mars? Three-headed Hydra from Saturn?’
‘Oh, please,’ Jack said, rolling his eyes. ‘If we had Martians you'd be in a whole lot more trouble. You really don't want to mess with Martians.’
‘Well, that's handy to know.’
‘And,’ Jack added, ‘you'll be pleased to know that there is in fact absolutely nothing alien here after all. Turns out our systems got their hunches wrong. Just your average run of the mill murder scene. Nothing to do with us.’
‘Oh well, that’s just brilliant,’ Andy said. ‘No aliens, great, but Torchwood have completely trampled the crime scene and ruined any chance of us having any proper chain of evidence. Whoever the bugger is that did this is going to get off scot free now.’
‘Don't be so melodramatic,’ Jack said. ‘We haven't done anything to ruin your chain of evidence. In fact your crime scene will probably be in a better state after we've left than before we arrived.’
‘And how do you figure that?’ Andy asked.
‘Well,’ Jack began, ‘Torchwood doesn’t exist, so no court of law is going to believe we ruined your crime scene. And then there's a small matter of the guy Owen has handcuffed out in the backyard. We thought he was the alien, but my guess would be that he's actually your murder perp. In which case you might want to thank us for your upcoming promotion.’
‘Promotion?’ Andy said getting ahead of himself.
‘You did just catch a murderer, didn't you?’
‘I did?’ Then he cleared his throat. ‘Yes, I did, didn't I?’
