Summary: Jack's mind is elsewhere. A triple drabble.


'Jack? Jack!' Gwen waved a hand in front of his face as he sat behind his desk, chin resting in his hand. He blinked, finally noticing her. 'Gwen. What can I do for you?'

'It's more like what can I do for you,' she replied. 'You were away with the fairies there.'

'You know how I feel about fairies,' he replied. 'It wasn't them.'

'Okay, so someone else then. 'She sank down onto the edge of his desk.' I know it hasn't been easy not having Ianto here, seeing him around the hub.'

'I see him every night,' Jack replied.

'Being undercover isn't quite the same thing though, is it? He's been on your mind all day. I can see it. He'll be fine. He's Ianto. It's not like you two have to pretend very hard at being a couple. He can handle being undercover.'

'Of course he can,' Jack said. 'No one is doubting he can handle himself. It's just…'

'What?'

'I'm worried whether he still thinks of it as being undercover.' Jack couldn't deny he enjoyed coming home to a home cooked meal and quiet evenings on the sofa, followed by more interesting times between the sheets afterwards, but it wasn't all real. He didn't want Ianto expecting this was what their lives would be like. For Jack it was staring to lose some of its gloss. Domestic bliss just really wasn't them.

Gwens pocket buzzed and she lifted her hip to extract her phone. Her face broke into a smile. You've got nothing to worry about. She showed him the message. "If I have to spend another week here caring about the bloody front lawn I'm going to kill someone."

Jack laughed. Oh, as if there'd ever been any doubt. Ianto Jones was Torchwood through and through.

Of course he is! The boys can do domestic, but they'll always be Torchwood first.
