Summary: Jack and Tosh are having trouble wrangling a weevil. A double drabble.
‘I thought you said it was tied up!’ Tosh cried, trying to help Jack by sitting on the weevil to add weight to its thrashing body even as Jack was already saddled over the top of it. It had broken through the cable ties that were meant to be holding its wrists together and Jack was having a hard time getting the flailing claws anywhere close to being able to attempt binding them back together again.
‘I did!’ Jack puffed, as evidenced by the snapped ties. ‘It was out for the count and then…’
Tosh got a hand free, pulling her can of weevil spray from her back jeans pocket, giving it another dose right in the face. The weevil slowed but it didn’t stop it altogether, but it was enough for Jack to finally wrest control, zipping a tie around the sharp limbs and then adding two more to be safe. Tosh grabbed the headsack and forced it over the still groaning creature. Blinded and bound it finally conceded defeat.
Jack rolled off it, sweating and out of breath. ‘Let’s get it back to the hub. Tell Owen to review our weevil spray formula. Looks like they’re becoming resistant.’
