torchwood100Summary: Aliens do their best to fit in but it doesn't always work. A double drabble.
Jack burst out laughing before anyone else could even see out of the SUV’s window what was out there courtesy of the rift. ‘Oh, that is hilarious!’ He kept giggling as he turned the SUV towards the kerb and pulled it to a stop.
Once they were out of the car, they could see what Jack had found so amusing. Next to a traffic light was a slim yellow alien with a feline face, stretched up on its hind legs, forepaws raised to the sky. Not only that, but it was making its green eyes light up, flashing intermittently.
‘Oh, that’s just bonkers,’ Owen remarked. ‘Does it really think anyone is going to believe that it’s a traffic light? It's got two green flashing eyes and a tail. That’s not suspicious at all.’
‘Well, points for it trying,’ Jack replied. ‘I think it’s done a pretty good job of trying to assimilate. I’d like to see you try and imitate a traffic light.’ He turned to Owen and grinned. ‘Too short for a start.’
‘And you’re not skinny enough,’ Owen retorted. Then they turned towards Ianto.
Ianto scowled. ‘Don’t look at me like that. I’m not here for your amusement.’
