Summary: Torchwood gets a thank you gift for doing nothing. A double drabble.
‘Post’s here,’ Ianto announced, walking into Jack's office with a bundle of envelopes and carrying a large cellophane wrapped basket.
‘I got gifts as well as mail?’ Jack sounded pleasantly surprised, like a kid at Christmas ready to tear the wrapping to shred to get at whatever was inside.
‘From Detective Inspector Swanson according to the card,’ Ianto replied.
‘You peeked at the card?’
Ianto looked at him in askance. ‘I check all packages before they enter the hub. You can’t be too careful. And if it really was from DI Swanson, it could very well have included a bomb.’
Jack chuckled. That was true enough. ‘So, what’s it for?’
Ianto set the large hamper on the desk. ‘Apparently its thanks for not sticking our noses into the Lillum murders.’
Jack frowned. ‘It was a wacky case, for sure, but nothing to do with us. The guy was just a regular nutter.’
‘I know,’ Ianto said, ‘but clearly they thought it was Torchwood material.’
‘If it had been, we wouldn't have let them near it.’
‘Also true.’
Jack twirled the hamper, peering at the delicious contents under the shiny wrapping. ‘Oh well, what they don't know won't hurt them, right?’
