Summary: Jack is hampering their attempts to leave the scene. A double drabble.
‘Hurry up, Ianto!’ Gwen yelled out, already at the car, waiting with the door hanging open and the engine running.
Ianto puffed out a breath and dropped his charge. ‘I’m sorry, Jack, but you’re going to have to help me out here,’ he told him. ‘There’s no way I can keep carrying you.’ The narrow footbridge might have only been another thirty yards to the main road where the SUV was waiting, but it might as well have been a hundred miles. He felt the ache in his arms as he looked down at the barely conscious Jack now lying on the ground.
‘Are you calling me fat?’ came faint mumbled words.
‘Muscle has more density than fat,’ Ianto replied, trying to keep things light and avoid answering the question. Yes, he did happen to think Jack had put on a few pounds. It just wasn’t so noticeable having him lie on top of Ianto in bed as it was trying to carry him wounded from a burning building.
‘Come on, Ianto!’ Gwen said, suddenly there beside him, moving to get her arms under Jack's armpits. She grunted loudly. ‘Jesus, he weighs a bloody ton!’
‘Not so easy, is it?’
