Summary: Ianto's idea of a day at the seaside has left Jack wanting. A double drabble.
Jack was normally upbeat and positive, even in the most dire of situations, but as he followed Ianto down to the shoreline, he felt his heart sink more and more with each sandy step.
Ianto pulled out a fold out chair setting the legs down firmly in sand before sitting in it. From his pocket he pulled out a pair of sunglasses and slid them on casting his gaze upward at the overcast sky. From another pocket he extracted a small novel, split out the pages where a bookmark was keeping place, and resumed from where he'd left off.
Jack pouted, still standing there next to him, his own chair still remained fully folded and clutched under his arm. ‘I'm all for going to the beach, Ianto,’ he said, ‘but when you said beach I expected beach weather.’
‘This is beach weather,’ he replied.
‘Not in my books,’ Jack replied. ‘Beach weather is bright sunshine, sand so hot you can barely walk across it, glittering ocean reflecting back the sun's rays, ice cream…’
‘We passed the ice cream truck on the way down here,’ Ianto told him. ‘What more do you want? This is as beach weather as Wales gets.’
