Summary: Some Torchwood assignments have a habit of repeating themselves. A double drabble.
Ianto blinked and moaned as he heard his phone ringing somewhere in the darkness. He fumbled around for a bit, finally finding the buzzing device and wrapping a hand around it and hitting the answer button. ‘What?’ he said, mumbling the sleepy words into the receiver. He didn't even know who was calling, let alone care. At this time of night, the options were limited.
‘Ianto, it's Gwen. Remember that enormous squid thing that we shipped off to the Norwegian coast?’
Dear god, how could he forget? ‘You mean the one that came back a few weeks ago and beached itself? The one we spent hours trying to push back out into open water? By hand?’ He’d been up to his armpits in wet sand and saltwater.
‘Yeah. It beached itself again, in Penarth, near the pier.’
Ianto groaned again. ‘Why?’ Not why did it beach itself, but rather why was the world so cruel sometimes?
‘Hey, don't shoot the messenger. I'm only telling you what Jack told me. Rhys still hadn’t stopped swearing.’
‘Great,’ he muttered, rolling out of bed and hauling on a sock.
‘I’ll swing by and pick you up in five.’
‘I’ll pack the suntan lotion.’
