Summary: Jack is in desperate need of something to keep him awake, but there’s desperate and a line that shouldn’t be crossed.
‘We have had some long nights, Ianto, but that night was the longest!’ Jack flopped exhausted onto the sofa, a rumpled mess of coat and shirt that was mostly hanging out of his trousers, far from the usual neat despite having been through utter chaos that he usually managed.
‘I may just sleep for three days,’ Ianto replied, coming to crash on the sofa next to him. At this point he didn't care that there wasn't enough room for them to both sleep there comfortably. He was of the opinion that he could have slept standing upright.
‘At least we have coffee,’ Jack said.
‘It'll be cold.’
‘Don't care at this point,’ Jack replied. ‘Anything to stave off feeling this beat.’ He sat forward and grabbed a mug from the coffee table and looked into it. ‘Ew! What is that?’ He offered the mug across, showing Ianto the pale green film that had settled over the top.
‘That's what happens when you abandon coffee for twenty four hours. Please don't drink it.’
‘But it's Ianto Jones coffee! It's brewed by magic hands with mystical restorative properties that the universe can't even begin to comprehend! It should be indestructible!’
‘It also contains milk,’ he replied, ‘which is famously known for going off in an instant. Now go to sleep. Fresh coffee can wait.’
