Summary: Everyone except Jack is maintaining an air of scepticism. A double drabble.
‘We've got Incoming,’ Jack announced as he studied his vortex manipulator to determine the reason for its sudden incessant beeping.
Gwen pulled out her own phone, ready to dial Rhys in the event it was something cataclysmic that required his immediate evacuation to the hub for his own safety.
After much frowning and button pressing Jack finally announced ‘It's John.’
Ianto's eye roll was as audible as his sigh. ‘Here we go again. I did not have “city completely destroyed” on my bingo card for this month.’
‘There's no reason for him to come here,’ Jack replied.
‘Except you,’ came the blunt response from Gwen. ‘God knows what unfinished business he has with you.’
‘He could be in serious trouble,’ Jack replied, a look of worry etched on his face.
Ianto scowled. ‘When isn't he?’
‘He could need our help,’ Jack said, still giving him the benefit of the doubt. ‘Why else come here and send a signal on the only device on the planet that could pick it up? We should go now.’ Jack's frown deepened as Ianto walked away. ‘Where are you going?’
‘To the armoury to get more guns,’ he replied. ‘One just never feels like enough.’
