drabble_zoneSummary: Ianto has had a bad day at work. A triple drabble.
‘You were supposed to be home for dinner two hours ago,’ Jack complained as Ianto finally came walking into the room. ‘You could've called,’ he said, feeling annoyed that he'd been left sitting there whilst dinner had gone cold.
‘You could have called me if it was that important!’ Ianto replied, looking equally annoyed at Jack's words. ‘You're not exactly the beacon of punctuality yourself.’
Jack threw his hands up in self defence at Ianto's combative tone. ‘Okay, fair enough. It's just you're not usually one to be late.’
‘I'm not usually one to write off a practically new car either,’ he said, ‘but there you go.’
Jack blinked, his brain catching up with the words. ‘What?’
‘Yep.’ Ianto flopped onto the sofa. ‘Guy pulls out in front of me at the last second, I crunch into the back of him, and then the one behind crunches into the back of me. Took two hours for the police to sort it out and get everyone towed off the road. They'd truly be useless in an alien invasion. So yeah, it hasn't been a great day.’
‘Ianto! You should have called me!’
He shrugged. ‘It was just an accident. Things like that happen every day.’
‘Are you hurt?’ Jack asked, scanning his lover for injuries.
Ianto flexed his wrist as if it were bothering him. ‘No, I'm okay. Bit of whiplash but the airbags took the brunt of it. I wasn't driving at Jack Harkness speeds. I will however be needing a lift to work tomorrow. And for a few weeks until the insurance comes through to buy a replacement.’
Jack lunged sideways, enveloping him in a bear hug.
‘Easy,’ Ianto warned. ‘Whiplash, remember?’
‘I don't care about the car,’ he said. ‘I'm just glad you're okay.’
‘Okay as can be.’
