Summary: There are some things Ianto wishes he didn't have to do on repeat. A double drabble.
Ianto is glad that Jack can't die. Apart from the obvious that he loves Jack more than words could express, there's something undeniably reassuring in knowing that no matter what happens, Jack will always be there, ready to keep the world safe and to sacrifice himself if it should come to that.
Jack's many deaths however do have their downsides. One is the momentary trauma caused by watching someone you love suffer and die. Another is typically the dry cleaning and mending involved in bringing Jack's beloved coat back to a respectable state. Unlike Jack, it isn't totally impervious to destruction.
What most frustrates Ianto isn't even always death-related, but simply clumsiness or carelessness. And because he knows Jack hates change, there's an endless cycle of replacing Jack's phone, always the same make and model. Hours of Ianto's life disappear into a black hole of importing phone numbers and speed dials, ringtone, settings and backups of text messages and photos. Every phone should not be like new, but instead like old, not because Jack demands it be so, but because Ianto knows little things can have a big impact.
He only wished his number wasn't listed as “Mr Sexy Beast.”
