Summary: Plans to go after a rift alert are hampered by the weekend weather . A double drabble.
‘Let's go!’ Jack yelled, snapping his Webley into its holster even as he jogged towards the SUV. It didn't matter that it was Saturday, or that he and Ianto were supposed to be having a quiet morning lounging around Ianto's flat, drinking coffee and reading the paper. He wasn't even going to wait for Ianto to lock the door behind him. Then again, it wasn't his flat.
Ianto was still struggling into his overcoat as he almost ran into the back of Jack who had come to a halt just yards from the car. ‘Jack, why are we stopped?’
Jack pointed at the SUV. ‘Look at it! The windscreen is completely iced over! It must be half an inch thick.’
‘Well, we knew it was going to be cold,’ Ianto replied, tucking hands into his pockets, breath fogging in front of him.
‘That's going to take ages to clear,’ Jack complained. ‘We don't have ages! We've got a job to do.’
Ianto sighed and started heading back towards the flat.
‘Where are you going?’
‘To fetch the kettle,’ Ianto replied. ‘I popped it on only about ten minutes ago when you said you didn't fancy a second cup of tea.’
