Summary: Andy has had to work hard to nab his crook. A double drabble.
‘Alright, mate. You're knicked,’ Andy said, making sure his knee was firmly placed, weight distributed perfectly as he reached for the handcuffs attached to his utility belt.
‘I ain't done nothing! Swears it!’
‘Yes, because innocent people always run from the police, don't they? And for the record, you do realise that “ain't done nothing” is a double negative, which means you're telling me you have done something?’
‘Piss off,’ the youth snarled as the cuffs snapped into place.
‘Also very common language for someone who's innocent. Up you get then,’ Andy said. ‘I've got a nice little spot for you in the back of a police car. It's like a taxi you don't have to pay for which only has one destination.’
As he pulled the kid to his feet a second set of blue flashing lights appeared to his right. They didn't belong to a squad car. ‘Nope. Not happening,’ he said as Jack lumbered from the SUV. ‘I chased him for two blocks and I tackled him to the ground.’
‘I know,’ Jack said. ‘I was watching.’
‘He's mine.’
‘Unfortunately that's not how this works.’
Andy scowled. ‘I want those cuffs back, d’you hear? They're police issue!’
