Summary: Owen thinks this case is a waste of time. A double drabble.
‘Where's Gwen?’ Owen asked as the group gathered more informally around the hub's sofa, which was normal for a Saturday.
‘She's gone to Aberystwyth to check on a lead in Eugene's death,’ Jack replied.
‘Oh, not this still,’ Owen moaned. He caught the disgusted looks from Tosh and Ianto. ‘Look, I'm sorry he's dead, but he was just a sad bloke still living with his mum who preferred the internet to the real world so much that he didn't even see the lorry that hit him.’
‘Owen!’ Tosh scolded.
‘And Gwen gets a bloody weekend getaway out of it? Where's our weekend off?’
‘Enough, Owen,’ Jack said, his face stern and unyielding. ‘What happened to Eugene was a tragic accident. It's sad because a mother just lost her son. And,’ he paused and cleared his throat, ‘because he might have been in possession of a genuine alien artefact.’
Owen rolled his eyes. ‘Ah, so now we get to the truth of it. It's all about the alien gear he was peddling.’
‘Gwen's got a job to do and no one else would do it,’ Jack said.
Owen nodded. ‘Yeah, that's the kind of compassion I thought we were talking about.’
