Summary: Ianto knows the value of a pre-emptive repair job. A double drabble.
‘Hey!’ Jack said as he watched Ianto snatch up his greatcoat from where he’d left it in a pile on the end of the desk. ‘I was gonna wear that.’
‘I know,’ Ianto replied, ‘but there’s a nick in the shoulder that I just noticed which you didn’t think to tell me about. Why do you think I'm taking it?’
‘It's kinda cold in here,’ Jack added, shivering involuntarily. ‘Did you remember to pay our heating bill?’
‘Don’t change the subject,’ Ianto said, bundling the coat over his arm. ‘I’ve told you. If it needs repair, you only have to say so.’
Jack rolled his eyes. ‘It’s the tiniest little nick. Invisible except to you.’
‘It’s a tiny nick now, but tomorrow it’ll be a mile wide tear in the sleeve, knowing you.’
Jack's eyes narrowed as he folded his arms. ‘I’m sensing a deep lack of faith in my ability to do my job without getting torn to pieces.’
‘A stitch in time, saves nine,’ Ianto replied. ‘I assume you’re familiar with the phrase. Except in your case it's usually way more than nine stitches.’
Jack groaned. ‘This is what I get for dating a tailor’s son, isn’t it?’
