Summary: A Cardiff local has gotten away with Torchwood's prize. A double drabble.
‘Oi!’ Owen yelled, watching the brown creature streak away. He hated dogs in general, but he hated them even more when they decided to go poking around his scene of investigation, finding the one thing they'd come here for and then grabbing it in its mouth and running off with it. Sodding stupid mutt. It paused for a moment at his cry, looked back over its shoulder, then bounded away.
‘Bollocks,’ Owen swore. ‘We'll never catch it now.’
‘We might not catch it,’ Tosh said, ‘but if we get close enough I should be able to pick up on its microchip, and if we've got that data, we know where it lives, and if we know where it lives…’
‘We'll know which backyard to start digging up?’ Owen replied facetiously. ‘And if it doesn't have a microchip?’
Tosh saw the flaw in her plan. ‘Ah. Well, yes, that would be a problem.’
Owen groaned. ‘Jack's going to go mental.’
‘We couldn't have known,’ Tosh said, trying to be supportive. ‘I could say to Jack that you chased it for a good mile before it got away if that helps.’
Owen beamed at her. Bless her trying to cover for them.
