torchwood100Summary: Andy is desperate to get a job and thinks he has what it takes. A triple drabble.
Andy couldn't tell if he was excited or terrified to be sitting across the desk from Captain Jack Harkness. He'd been nagging at Gwen for absolutely ages to put in a good word for him. Not that he didn't love his job with the police, but Torchwood… That was next level, and he knew that he'd be brilliant at it. If they thought Gwen was good then Andy had to be a shoe in.
Jack had a thin file in front of him with the official Torchwood logo stamped on the front. Andy already had his own file? How amazeballs was that?
‘I've got a file here, Andy,’ Jack began. ‘A file in which you spent a bit of time getting sucked back and forth through time, dealing with certain things alongside Norton Folgate. He wrote here that he found you to cope well in the face of a crisis.’
Andy was taken aback. ‘He did?’ Mostly he remembered being terrified out of his mind with no idea what to do. ‘Well,’ Andy blushed, ‘if Norton said it…’
‘Norton Folgate also happens to be a two-timing, backstabbing, double agent turncoat who never did anything that didn't benefit him directly,’ Jack finished with a scowl.
‘Ah,’ Andy said, lowering his eyes to the desk and realising that his hopes of ever becoming a Torchwood agent had just been dealt a death blow. He should have known that sodding Norton Folgate would screw him over one last time. Jack was right. The bloke really was quite the two-faced prat.
Jack sighed, pushing the file closed. ‘Still, Gwen seems to think you'd be okay…’
‘Oh, go on,’ Andy pleaded, sensing a small glimmer of hope. ‘Crisis Andy, that's me. Always brilliant in a crisis. I survived Norton, didn't I?’
‘I suppose,’ Jack conceded.
