drabble_zoneSummary: Jack expected a different reaction to Ianto having his diary discovered. A triple drabble.
Jack decided he'd given Ianto ample time to avoid him, coming to linger in the doorway of the archives, finding Ianto exactly where he expected to find him.
‘Are you done with being embarrassed?’ Jack asked, unable to stop himself grinning as he said it. He knew Ianto kept a diary and that he'd always been secretive on the contents. The diary itself had been elusive, but Jack had stumbled on it earlier this morning, lying abandoned in a dark, dusty corner of floor near the sofa. Returning it had been equal parts a wrench and a delight, watching Ianto's face flush and the silently mouthed expletives as he disappeared with it.
‘Not embarrassed,’ came the quick reply. ‘Slightly annoyed, perhaps.’
That didn't surprise Jack one bit. How many times had he begged to know where Ianto kept it and what he wrote about.
‘I didn't read it all, you know,’ Jack said, pushing away from the doorway. He didn't have the luxury of that kind of spare time, much as he would have loved to keep it longer. He knew Ianto would be turning the place upside down looking for it. Not giving it back was just cruel. ‘Just a few pages, but oh, the things that were remarked upon in those pages…’ Jack watched for Ianto to begin blushing again, yet the expression on his face was different, dark and troubling. ‘What?’
‘I burned it.’
Jack's eyebrows raised in surprise. ‘You burned your diary because I teased you about it?’
‘No. We just woke up to having three days wiped from our memories. Whatever happened must have been bad, or important that we not remember. I couldn't risk there being something in there that might trigger those memories to come back.’
Oh. Why hadn't Jack thought of that?
