Summary: Ianto knows he has a job to do but some things are even more important. A double drabble.
Ianto had seen Jack suffer through all kinds of terrible deaths, from being crushed, to shot through the head and even stabbed by a huge alien arm weapon. Every death must have been excruciatingly painful, even if only for a few moments, but the one thing Ianto could always count on was that Jack would come back, alive and unhurt, if a little disoriented.
This was so much worse. Jack was just lying there in the hospital bed, unmoving, bright blue eyes staring emotionlessly into space. He was alive, but trapped in some kind of waking coma. He wasn't alone, but the otherwise invincible Captain Jack Harkness left Ianto feeling anxious.
He knew he should have been out there helping Gwen to figure out how it was that telephones across Cardiff were sending their call recipients into their current state. Instead he felt compelled to stay with Jack, reassuring him that he wasn't alone.
Ianto leaned over and brushed a hand across his cheek. Those wide blue eyes were unsettling. Ianto gently drew them shut, even though he knew Jack would have wanted to see what was happening.
‘I'm not going anywhere,’ Ianto promised. ‘Not until you wake back up.’
