Summary: Not all days at Torchwood are as harrowing as they first seem. A double drabble.
‘I don't know why we get out of bed some days,’ Owen griped with a loud huff as he leant back against the SUV, arms folded.
Jack grinned. ‘Because if you hadn't gotten out of bed, you wouldn't get to be entertained like this.’
Jack, begrudgingly, had a point. Being threatened by invasion wasn't an everyday occurrence at Torchwood, thankfully, but having turned up at the site where the aliens had broadcast that they would land and begin the invasion, only to find a ship the size of a grapefruit lying in the middle of the road with an army of ant-sized aliens swarming out and firing their weapons was equal parts ridiculous and offensive.
‘They're not serious, are they?’ Owen asked. He watched the tiny pinprick flashes from their firearms barely illuminate the inch of bitumen in front of them. ‘Don't they do any research before deciding to invade?’
Jack shrugged. ‘Maybe their intel was off. Earth does happen to look like a tiny place from a few million parsecs away.’
‘I could crush their entire fleet with my sneaker,’ Owen said.
‘Now, now,’ Jack tutted. ‘Just because they've come to invade doesn't mean we shouldn't be gracious hosts.’
