torchwood100 Summary: Jack isn't always as strong as he makes out to be. A double drabble.
Jack had been in charge of Torchwood for so long that he didn't know how to take orders anymore. He was an expert in giving them, and even better at dealing with those that defied them. Over time, he'd simply become accustomed to being the leader – strong, knowledgeable and in control. It wasn't that he didn't know fear and uncertainty, he'd just developed a shield against those emotions. Someone had to keep it together for everyone else's sake.
But there were times when it really got to him, even as the strong one amongst them. Times when it felt like hope was unreachable and that he couldn't go another day of this immortal life. Times when all he wanted was to curl up in the arms of someone else, like a little boy who needed his mum, and just be held until all the dark shadows and scary thoughts faded away into nothingness.
Too many hugs had been given to others who needed comfort. Very rarely could he say that a hug had been received in a way that brought him the same kind of reassuring comfort, but it didn't stop him from needing them, even if only just occasionally.
