Summary: Jack thinks that just maybe, normal life wouldn't be so bad. A double drabble.
‘This is nice,’ Jack said, curling over in the large bed, warm under the thick duvet and nice new bedsheets. His arm snuck across Ianto's body and pulled him closer as he nuzzled into Ianto's pillow.
‘A small perk,’ Ianto murmured, relaxing into Jack's spooning. ‘But it won't last. We'll be back to your tiny bunker and fighting over one blanket before long,’ he added.
‘Perhaps,’ Jack conceded, knowing that their undercover assignment would eventually end. ‘But don't you ever think about life like this? How things would be if we didn't have Torchwood?’
‘We'd be bored for a start,’ Ianto said. ‘Don't pretend you prefer this over our normal lives.’
Jack found it hard to deny he'd miss the thrill of the chase, but neither could he deny the idea that it would be nice not having to worry about keeping Ianto safe, about him not getting hurt in the line of duty, risking his own safety to try and protect Jack, or worse. In a world without Torchwood and the rift, this is how it might be; regular jobs, home-cooked meals and Saturday lie-ins. Nice for a sea change, but perhaps Ianto was right. Jack would be bored.
