‘I never thought I'd see the day,’ Jack remarked, watching the most insane scene unfold before his eyes.
‘I’m going to need video evidence for the record,’ Ianto replied. ‘No one will ever believe us otherwise.’
Owen had done the doctor thing of interposing himself into the situation without worrying about his own personal safety. Of course, Jack knew it wasn’t technically dangerous. He’d seen one of these plants before and, whilst the plant had some very strong endorphin inducing pollen, it was nothing that would cause long term harm.
‘My turn! My turn!’ Owen yelled, trading places with the birthday boy, bouncing up and down on the inflatable castle. He clambered on and was grinning and laughing madly as he bounced and waved his arms. ‘Wheeeee! This is the best day ever!’
‘It has the unsettling, horror film feel of watching someone grumpy being that happy,’ Ianto said.
‘I think it’s sweet,’ Jack replied. ‘Proof that even a grumpy git like Owen is capable of pure, unadulterated joy.’
‘I think we need to bottle that pollen and release a few spores into the hub’s ventilation on a daily basis.’
‘Nah,’ Jack said. ‘We’d take happy Owen for granted then.’
