Summary: One day Owen will get it right. A double drabble.
Torchwood had a lot of basic protocols for dealing with alien items, and not so alien items that got caught up in their investigations. Everything was photographed, documented and filed away, but before any of that could happen, it had to get from the scene to the hub first. That meant everything followed the simple protocol of “bag and tag”.
There were bags of all different sizes but they were all Torchwood issue, with the T logo on them and a white panel for marking the date, time and the nature of the item.
The problem was that they often didn’t know what they’d found, and so the word “Unknown” tended to feature a lot. Except for Owen’s bags. Owen preferred to make up names for things, suggesting that this object was an “alien pasta fork”, and that one was “space-age bonsai watering can”.
It wasn’t very helpful for cataloguing it, still unknown, but as protocol also dictated that items should be kept sealed in their bags, it did provide some amusement for when things were retrieved later. So far, Owen had failed to be correct in any of his guesses, but that wasn’t going to stop him from trying.
