For all his harsh words, he really didn't want to have to do it. He'd prayed there could be another way; that maybe Ianto had been right, that she could be fixed and the process reversed, but the more he saw the more he knew that there was no going back now.

The rest of the team, and the world, was depending on him. They were allowed to be emotionally invested, and sympathise with Ianto's plight, but he couldn't. She had to die, and he had to take the lead so that the others would follow.

He pulled the trigger.
