The front of the tourist information office wasn't exactly attractive, but it served its purpose, being publicly accessible, without being publicly appealing. It did mean however that every now and then, Ianto would have to go outside and tidy up. Sunday mornings usually, after the Saturday night revellers had left their rubbish behind.

Bin liner in hand, he began picking up wrappers, bottles and cans. Then something nudged his hand. It was a seal.

'Oh, hello.' Did seals swim this far up the channel? he wondered.

It barked, before flipping a bottle up on its nose.

'Cool. Know any other tricks?'

 

The seal followed Ianto around the quay, nudging rubbish up onto its nose before letting him take it and place it in the bag. In between, the seal would dip in and out of the water, letting Ianto watch him spin circles, before vaulting back onto the quay. They made quite a good team; the quay side now spotless.

'Who's your new friend?' Jack asked.

'I don't know, but he seems to like me.'

'You weren't worried that maybe it wasn't a real seal? Maybe it was me?'

'Not a chance,' Ianto replied. 'You'd never have helped pick up rubbish.'

That seal is a keeper! I wonder if they can employ him for weekend litter collecting...
