Jack caught sight of Ianto standing outside, leaning over the railing and looking out across the bay. They'd barely spoken since John Hart had come tearing back into their lives, taking away almost everything they held dear. When they needed each other most, they'd backed away, each grieving alone.

He leant next to the man, pressed close, letting the silence hang between them.

'How do you do it?' Ianto asked. 'Keep going when you've lost everything?'

'Hope,' Jack replied. 'I have to believe that there's more still to come, and that this isn't the end, because it never will be.'
